Hi, Cheryl here…
I want to start by saying a huge thank you to everyone for all your support. This blogosphere family is made up of incredibly special people. Every week I bring the mail to Beth and watch the joy she gets from each postcard or letter she receives in response to those she’s sent. She delights in the emails she receives. In Beth’s world now she has limited connections with others so each time one of you makes the effort to connect via blog comments, emails, postcards, letters, or gifts it means a great deal.
With Beth’s changing memory Linda and I had discussed a potential new challenge for all of you. We want to make some memory books to help Beth when she is having trouble remembering.
What we would like from you is a picture of yourself, the moniker Beth knows you by (for example: Yanub) and a little bit about yourself. Feel free to add any messages to Beth you want to share. You can decorate/embellish the page and email them to Linda at Linda.McClung at shaw.ca or mail it to the Port Angeles, WA post office box. Email Linda if you need the address.
So have fun with it. Play dress up, unleash your inner or outer artist/writer, and create. Given the fun weekend challenge response I think you will all do great with this challenge as well.

Now, that is an interesting challenge indeed. I will get to work on it. Will you be using standard sized memory book pages?
What is it about Beth? How does she manage to inspire so much creativity and generosity in people? Everyday, I am blown away by her and this amazing community that has come to be because of her.
that ought to be interesting, seeing as that I'm probably not the only one that she's never seen a picture of!
Reminds me... I've got a couple of pictures I wanted to e-mail to her, anyway...
Hi Yanub... Linda here.
I was thinking we'll just use the standard 8.5 x 11 or A4 size paper depending what country you are in. I'm thinking that on the back of the page Beth can write her own notes so she doesn't have to keep looking people up in her emails.
Raccoon: should be interesting indeed. People don't have to send photos - just thought it would be a nice idea.
Hm... I thought I was getting the most out of this, like reading post, comments and getting nice cards:) No, seriously, I was, but glad that Elizabeth gets joys from it. Greetings to Linda and Cheryl.
Will think of something.....
(I have to admit I am secretely curious of everybody else as well.....)
Oh great idea! I will put this on my list to do. Excellent :o)
Timing really is everything, isn't it? I've just been outside with my Beloved to have her take a photo of me for an SCA event, and I can use it for this project, too.
Would it be okay to send my page as a pdf file?
Hugs,
Neil
Yanub, now that I've actually read the comments, I am also impressed by Beth's powers. If I may quote the Muppet Treasure Island characters: How does she bloody do that?!?!
I dearly wish I could have taken an English class from her. She must have been a marvellous teacher! No, strike that: she IS a marvellous teacher.
Yeah, blown away is almost descriptive enough for me too.
Thanks everyone for wanting to help out with the memory book.
I too am amazed by Beth and the online community she nutures and that nurtures her back.
Neil: A pdf would be great. Great timing with the pictures.
And yes, Beth is an amazing teacher. She is animated, knowledgeable and makes her points so easy to understand, especially when she uses metaphors. I always enjoy learning more from her.
I just wanna say you guys rock! We have received some pages already and they are great!
I am humbled by the caring and generosity of you all. I don't know why so many wonderful people have found there way to our community but I am so thankful that they have.
Been busy crazy here and I just saw the post, see what Collette and I and Miss Hayley can do .. put something in the mail today (Monday) so look for something in a week or so
I should mention (he said QUITE smugly) that I sent my page via email as a pdf file. Send whatever works for each of you, though!
Hugs,
Neil
Way to go everyone. I've already received 5 pages and they're all awesome. They will be really useful.
Thanks.
That is a FABULOUS idea! I'm in!
I'm so far behind on blogs. I hate not having Internet at home.
